Nature provides endless beauty and inspiration for creating art.  I am continually drawn to oceans and lakes, leaves and trees, along with other aspects of nature, seeing the beauty itself as something to replicate, or to make use of as a way to express a concept that I hold dear.  The mosaic Primavera came out of a recent development in my work to find ways to bring more dimension and life to a mosaic piece. In this case, I chose materials such as flint to capture the texture of tree bark, and creatively worked with stained glass methods to recreate offshoots of a branch, bringing the subject to life. The name Primavera is associated with hope and rebirth, a concept I go back to again and again, since the idea and reality of hope is a powerful force in the world, and in my personal journey.
