Hope Emerging speaks to the journey of finding a way forward, out of loss and towards beauty. This experience is represented through the mosaic art form Pique Assiette, which means “broken plate”, where repurposed materials like ceramics, pottery, glass and other found objects are used.  I created this mosaic from pieces of some favorite possessions that have broken over the years  – a serving platter that was a special gift, a garden pot that belonged to a family member who has passed, a child’s hand painted cup, weathered glass from a local beach and other treasured materials.  Working in this specific mosaic style was a tangible way for me to process grieving the loss of experiences and cherished relationships, while at the same finding reasons to hope for the future.
